Pests in the home can be extremely bothersome. Fruit flies, roaches, and carpenter ants can cause great stress to a household. There are many pest control products, such as sprays, traps, baits, and insecticides available in stores. If you want to try easy, inexpensive ways, here are some tips that have worked.
Getting rid of fruit flies
One very common pest control method for fruit flies is to mix ? quart of water, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 2 tablespoons of white vinegar, and a couple of drops of liquid dish detergent together in an open jar. Put the top on and poke several holes in it. Place the mixture in the infestation area. This will attract the fruit flies and they will fly down through the holes of the top. Then they'll be trapped and won't be able to find their way back out. You should leave this mixture in the area infested with fruit flies as long as needed.
Getting rid of roaches
In addition to the sprays and other pest control products for roaches, another common product used is boric acid. This is applied as a dust in wall voids in which the roaches travel. It should eat through the shells of the roaches and will eventually kill them. The roaches pass the dust from one to another, so it should take care of the hidden ones.
Getting rid of carpenter ants
Some pest control products that have been found to help get rid of carpenter ants are baby powder, cinnamon, and black pepper. Sprinkle the product on the actual carpenter ants, on their trail, and at the location of where they are entering. This should deter the carpenter ants and get rid of your problem.
