Solariums are Chic
All you green thumbs out there, listen up. If you want to make the most of your hobby and enjoy your flora and fauna all year around then you simply must have a solarium built onto your home. A solarium is a glass enclosed room that is used to display flowers, plants, shrubbery, and other botanicals. A solarium allows you to work in your home garden even when it is freezing outside. The solarium uses the rays of natural sunlight to heat the room to an agreeable temperature. And a solarium looks great from both inside and outside of your home. A trip to your local home and garden center or a keyword search on the Internet will give you a list of contractors that specialize in a solarium. The investment potential alone is enough to get a solarium added to your home. You can charge a substantial amount of money more when it comes time to sell it.
Extending Your Gutter Landings
One of the major problems with gutter systems is that the landing area can frequently get muddied or saturated, leaving the area in a mess. The quagmire can eventually erode around the gutter landing, forcing you to refill it with peat moss or some sort of land replacement substance. But there is a simple method to control this problem using less than $20 in materials and about a half a day's worth of your time. First, dig a one foot trench from your gutter landing to the closest flower bed. Go to your local home and garden center and purchase about 10 yards of flexible PVC piping and a metal fitting. Then connect your piping to the end of your gutter landing using the metal fitting. Run your piping down through the trench into your flower bed. Cover the piping with dirt or peat moss. Rain water will now be directed into a flower bed and away from sensitive grass areas.

For example, if you are running the heat, your vent should be slightly open to allow the heat to be pumped into the lower portions of your home. As heat rises, it will naturally heat the upper portions of your home or office. If the vent is closed, the heat will go directly upstairs, leaving the lower portions of your home chilly.
