Get Rid of Crabgrass
Crabgrass, despite its attractive appearance, is considered a damaging weed that can cause problems for you lawn, flowers and shrubbery. The roots of crabgrass are a formidable opponent that competes with good roots for nutrients and water. The best way to rid your lawn of crabgrass is to use an effective herbicide expressly made for the task. The herbicide is most effective when applied in early spring when the temperatures help it kill the crabgrass. The herbicide will prohibit the crabgrass seeds from taking hold in your lawn. Simply pull up any existing crabgrass and your lawn will be weed free in no time.
Turn Your Backyard into a Labyrinth
There's something calming about being able to walk a path uninterrupted. It is a serene way to get your exercise and clear your mind of your day to day stresses. You can turn your backyard into a beautiful labyrinth of walkways quite easily. The most common design is a seven path labyrinth that emerges from a simple point. Use stones to make small separating walls. Or use a simple "seed pattern" that will allow you to create new walkways in the future. You can get plans for your labyrinth from a home and garden source. You're inner self will thank you.

Trim Your Lawn Disease Through Mowing
The way you mow your lawn has a certain effect on way disease develops. Mow your lawn high in order to protect the valuable roots from a scorching sun. If you mow your lawn high, you will need to mow your lawn more often in order to keep it under control. Always use a sharpened lawn mower blade that will allow you to get a nice clean cut. A dull blade simply shreds your lawn clippings. They will collect on the surface of your lawn and cause major problems when the new blades attempt to grow.
Watering for a Healthy Lawn
Here are some tips for watering your lawn to keep it lush and healthy. Make sure that you water thoroughly and only when needed. Lawns lose thousands of gallons of water per day to the sun and the heat. Watering in the morning will allow your lawn to build up its reserves for the long day ahead. This will also give your lawn blades time to dry, avoiding the growth of molds.

Spiders are Friends
Just a brief word about lawn and garden spiders. Before you go spending lots of money and time fumigating your lawn, you should realize that spiders eat many insects that harm lush lawns. Spiders also protect your favorite shrubberies and bushes from damage by foraging insects. So allow the spiders that are inhabiting your lawn to stay and flourish, as they are really friends and not foes.
Leaves: Blow Them or Stow Them
There is a great debate raging on whether or not you should be using an air blower to rid your lawn of leaves. Some people say that the noise of the blower constitutes noise pollution. Still others maintain that blowing your leaves is a perfectly acceptable practice that adds to the beauty of your lawn. I tend to let my leaves collect at the back of my yard to form compost. But that's not to say that I'm right. It just means that I tend to get lazy. Any thoughts?
