Signs of a Worn Gutter
Because gutters perform such an important function for your home, it is helpful to be able to recognize various signs of wear and tear on them. A worn gutter is your roofs biggest enemy as it can cause your roof to collect water and debris and leak from time to time. Fortunately, spotting the wear and tear on your gutters is fairly easy to do once you know what to look for. First, watch your gutter during a heavy and consistent rain. If you see water leaking over the edges of the gutter, or leaking heavily in a suspicious spot, then your gutters may need professional replacement. Also, check the end of the gutter spout to ensure that the correct flow of water is descending properly. Then do an inspection of the gutter pipe that descends from your roof. Watch for rust or holes in your gutter that might signal damage. If you find that your gutters are damaged, a call to your local gutter professional will get you the help you need in replacing the system.
