Increasing Home Security
Increasing the security in your home is a fairly painless and inexpensive process if you know what you are looking for. A good place to start is with the deadbolt and chain locks on the doors. Check the wood around them for splintering or holes. If there is damage, it might prevent the lock from working properly. Replacing these items will make your home more secure. Also consider installing a door stop, which allows the door to be opened slightly but enough to identify the person knocking. Another way to increase security is to install motion-activated lighting around your home. This type of lighting will illuminate the entire yard when someone approaches. This is a powerful deterrent for prowlers. All of these items are easy to find and inexpensive.
